I Second That Emotion | On to the Next
When are you likely to anticipate what's next?
Anticipation is an interesting thing. I recently wrote a Note about being present…being in the now. There’s value in that, in being here, right now, without any regard to the past or future. Just here, right now.
As I think about it, there are also valuable takeaways from anticipation. Sometimes, there are things we are looking forward to that just really offer pick-me-up energy. I was talking to a friend recently, and she mentioned that she likes to book her next trip, next adventure, either soon after or even prior to her current one. It gives her something to look forward to, she said. I can understand that. Daydreaming about something enjoyable in the near (or distant) future offers us a moment of excitement, happiness, and anticipation for what will be.

If we think about it, anticipation and being in the now can coexist in a poetic way. It’s not always about what we wait for, but how we wait. How do you wait?

I love how you framed anticipation as energy we carry into the present
It makes me wonder, if the way we “wait” shapes the outcome itself, or just how we experience the time until it arrives?
Glad I found this!
